Dear Janelle, As you know, my Dad, John Carlow, expired last Monday evening while a Resident in Our House since last February. I am writing to thank all of those who touched Dad and showed him so much caring dignity during his stay. He died peacefully, with the help of Kaiser Hospice and the Our House staff. I am particularly grateful to Lori Minion. She was always there for Dad, my Mom (Resident at Chateau I) and me. Lori consistently knew what was going on with Dad when I had difficulty getting information from other staff members. I came to dread Sundays and Mondays because she was not there to watch out for him and communicate with us. My Mom would not visit Dad on Lori's days off because it upset her not to have someone to talk to her. I had the opportunity to observe Lori with other Residents and their families. I never saw anything but kindness and understanding. Under Lori's management, the Our House staff members were kind and caring with Dad. The only name I knew was Barbara but I am sure there were others. I would like to thank Orlando in the Med Room. He is the only one who seemed to know what medications Dad was taking and where to find them. His calls to me when Dad fell on several occasions were gentle and appropriate. Janelle, as I think I have mentioned previously, I have 35 years of upper management and executive experience in and/or related to the health care industry. As such, my perspective may be somewhat different from others more distant to the process. If anyone in the organization would like to discuss my comments in this letter, I would be more than happy to do so. Again, please share this letter and extend my heartfelt thanks to the Our House staff.
